Keith Ashford C.Eng. MIMechE, MCIBSE

Chief Mechanical Engineer

I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Chartered Building Services Engineer. I have 35 years experience in the engineering industry, which started in the design of engineering services with the NHS, followed by a period as Head of Fluids Engineering with Michelin Tyre plc. Over the last fifteen years I have worked at Director level with a number of engineering consultancies and am currently Regional Director for FHP Engineering Services Solutions Ltd responsible for their Birmingham and Midlands region operations. My involvement with the M&GNJR Society started when I was 8 years old in 1967 and during the 1970’s become one of the first firemen to be passed out. During this period I was involved in the original overhaul of the J15 and subsequently assisted with the B12’s early restoration. Having become more actively involved again over the last fifteen years, I have been responsible for the project engineering/management of the most recent overhaul of the B12, for the overhaul and conversion of the J15 to Y14 guise and the overhaul of the WD. I am an active engineering volunteer on the NNR and a qualified steam driver. My hobbies include model engineering and I have a 5”gauge B1 and B12 under construction. I am a qualified PADI Rescue Scuba Diver and enjoy skiing and various sports when I get the time.
