Volunteers needed

Updated: Apr 21, 2022

We have a few volunteer roles open...

Weybourne Shop Assistant

Do you have a few hours to spare to help the Society's fund raising activities? We are always on the lookout for people to assist in the running of the Society’s bookshop on Weybourne station. You would be helping to run an increasingly important contributor to the Society's income. Shop turnover from the sale of transport books, railway souvenirs, model railway items etc was £27,000 in 2021, and that in a year when there were still some restrictions due to the pandemic. We think there is potential to grow that if we have volunteers to open the shop on any day that the NNR is running services. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and you would be part of a small, friendly team. Full training will be given. If you are interested, please get in touch with our Sales Manager, John Gorton, on john.gorton@mandgn.org

Museum Steward

The William Marriott Museum at Holt station houses an important collection telling the story of railways in East Anglia. It’s a popular attraction in its own right with up to 20,000 visitors a year. The Society aims to open it on every day the NNR runs train services but, to achieve this, we need more stewards. The role involves welcoming visitors and answering their queries and dealing with the sale of publications and souvenirs from the small museum shop. It’s a great way to learn about railway history and to meet like-minded people sharing that interest. Full training will be given. If you are interested, please get in touch with our Museum Curator, Dave King, on dave.king@mandgn.org
